Identifying Builds/Commits for specific versions

Hi!

I was wondering how to I determine what version/commit of this to use. For example, all of the documentation says that this is for 1.8, but looking at the commit history shows it has been updated to 1.15. My plugin is being written against Bukkit/Spigot 1.8 w/ ProtocolLib, so I'm wondering how do I identify what version (or commit, if I have to build it myself) would I use to run this on a 1.8 server?
