Roadmap

This document outlines the high-level direction for Neptune. It is living documentation and may be updated as priorities evolve.

Vision

Neptune aims to be a reliable, community-friendly tool for Terraform and OpenTofu pull request automation that fits well in CI and works with Terramate for change detection and run order.

Current focus

  • Stability: Keep the core plan/apply workflow, locking, and PR integration solid.
  • Documentation: Improve configuration, installation, and usage docs so new users can adopt Neptune easily.
  • Compatibility: Support current Terraform and OpenTofu versions and Terramate SDK evolution.

Possible future directions

  • Ecosystem: Deeper integration or documentation for common backends and workflows (e.g. more object stores, CI systems).
  • Observability: Optional metrics or logging improvements for operators.
  • Community: Grow maintainers and contributors from multiple organizations.

Releases

Release cadence and versioning follow semantic versioning. See Releases for history and AGENTS.md for the release process.
