no CSS unless DEBUG = True #31

Server runs fine otherwise, but if DEBUG = False in carwings/settings.py there is no CSS It appears to be trying The error in the docker logs suggests it's looking for
Changing DEBUG back to True and restarting fixes it. This is on a fresh VM install on Ubuntu 26.04 server. Wiki https://github.com/developerfromjokela/opencarwings/wiki/Running-the-server-in-Docker-(building-yourself) step 7 says to disable DEBUG so that's why I did. Am I "doing it wrong"? Could just carry on running with DEBUG but it's quite chatty, of course. Thanks! |

Hi. I'd like to hear a bit more on the environment you're running in. So you have Ubuntu VM, that's running the docker instance? Or are you running opencarwings without docker, on the VM? |

Ubuntu VM I just setup for testing as I'd noticed this on my main instance (Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS server) elsewhere and wanted to make sure it wasn't a problem with that. Ok, thanks for the details! The issue is that the static files are not served directly from the application server, so you'll need to have a regular http server like nginx or apache in between. Please check https://github.com/developerfromjokela/opencarwings/wiki/Self%E2%80%90hosting-OpenCARWINGS-with-docker%E2%80%90compose#configuring-opencarwings-behind-nginxapache wiki page on how to set it up. I'll consider adding nginx to the docker compose file, I have assumed the user would have some kind of web server already installed :) |

Aha thank you! I had seen the nginx setup info of course but the wiki page reads as if it’s optional so I didn’t do it. I’ll get on with it now, cheers! UK AZE0 car with the newer soldered SIM TCU and more than willing to help in the other thread. Navi works… |
