Accessing Tasks From Account Through A Custom Lookup Field

Hi all,

We use tasks related to cases to track requests.

We want the tasks to show in the Time Warp timeline on the Account.

What I have done so far is:

1. Create a custom Account field on the Activity object (the standard AccountId field can't be written to, and there is no direct relation).
2. Use a before save flow to populate the custom Account field from the Account on the related case.

I have tried to add the custom field to the Account timeline, but I can't seem to get it to work. The things I have tried so far are:

• Using 'Activity / ies' and 'Task / s' with and without __r in the config.
• Using the TaskRelations / EventRelations steps from the troubleshooting doc, It didn't seem to work, and I am not sure if it would achieve the same thing I am aiming for?
• Disabling out-of-the-box person tasks and events metadata records.
• Logging in and out.

Could the issue be because there is a default lookup field to Account and I am trying to use a separate one, or would it not matter because I would use Activities__r?

The version I am using is V1.15.

Hi @CeeJ4321 I believe this issue answer will help you #323

The TLDR is use LookedUpFromActivity as the object name in the metadata. The filter label becomes Lookups from Activities - with no option to override. If you want events and tasks to the separated by colour and icon then use formula fields.

No problem. Full disclosure though. When checking this we discovered a bug #331.

When a user doesn't have view all data perms they get an error. So it's good new bad news. The fix is easy but we probably won't package it into a new version until Jan 2026.
