Problem to solve

I guess that we will have several people who never used Github and will not feel comfortable to get started. Similarly was the case in the Susainability WG, therefore I wrote a guide that walks newcomers step by step through Github

Thanks for offering this — a GitHub onboarding guide would be genuinely useful for contributors who are new to GitHub. Looking at your example, it covers the right territory.

A few things to keep in mind for DE4SDV:

1. Issue-first workflow. We use GitHub issues before PRs. Contributors should open an issue first, then reference it from their PR. The issue templates in .github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/ make this easy.

2. Branch + PR, not direct push. The main branch is protected — all changes go through a pull request from a feature branch.

3. CONTRIBUTING.md and AGENTS.md. Point onboarding readers to CONTRIBUTING.md for the practical contributor guide and AGENTS.md for AI coding assistant instructions.

4. Mattermost access. We also use Mattermost at https://chat.de4sdv.org (invite-only, request via GitHub issue template).

Go ahead and open a PR when you have a draft. We can review and iterate there.
