[Feature Request] Squad Data and Account Data (Import/Export Support)

Problem

Currently, all owned squads (both public and private) are locked and do not allow users to export the submitted URLs or related data.

Additionally, there is no option to export or import account-related data.

This creates a limitation for users who want to:

• Back up their data
• Migrate to another platform
• Maintain ownership and control over their submitted content

Requested Features

1. Squad Data Export

   • Ability to export all submitted URLs within a squad
   • Include/exclude metadata such as title, description, and timestamps
   • Support formats like JSON or CSV

2. Account Data Export

   • Export all user-related data (profile, squads, submissions)
   • Provide downloadable structured data

3. Account Data Import

   • Allow users to re-import previously exported data
   • Help in migration or restoring backups

Clarification

I understand that API access may be part of a paid offering.

However, exporting account data and squad data owned or created by moderators/users should be a basic user right and not restricted behind paid APIs. This data belongs to the user, and there should be a simple way to access and download it without requiring API usage.

Why This Matters

Most modern platforms (such as Instagram and Google services) provide users with data portability features.

Allowing export/import:

• Improves transparency
• Builds user trust
• Aligns with standard data ownership practices
• Enhances long-term platform adoption

Additional Context

Currently, user data and squad submissions are locked within the platform, with no way to retrieve or reuse them externally. Enabling export would significantly improve usability and user control.

Thanks for the detailed feature request. Unfortunately, we're not remotely close to the size of instagram or google, and can't support this ability at the moment (our paid api doesn't support it even, so it's not about monetization). Our focus is elsewhere

Thanks for the clarification.

I don’t think I fully understand the limitation yet. From my understanding, this is mainly about allowing users to export their own account data and allowing squad moderators/owners to download the links from their own squads directly from the daily.dev database.

I’m not specifically asking for full public API access or advanced paid API features. Even a simple export option (for example JSON or CSV) for user-owned data would already solve most of the problem.

Could you clarify what part makes this difficult to support currently?

Importing isn't trivial which is part of your original request.
Maintaining compatibility with user facing exports is also something that i envision will slow us given our current team size, or we will constantly keep breaking to move fast. Since this is the 2nd time we receive such request, we don't think it's high priority compared to other features that are being requested more frequently.

Thanks for the clarification. I believe export support is more important and essential than import support.

At minimum, CSV/JSON export for user data and moderator squad links should be part of the roadmap.

@idoshamun Thanks for considering it. I know daily.dev is open source, but users should still have proper access to export their own data to avoid platform lock-in.

Even in cases where daily.dev is no longer available in the future, users should still have a way to export and download their squad links and saved links as CSV/JSON. Full account metadata is not necessary, but the links themselves are important.
