OpenXR / OpenVR Support?

Heya! My request is simple, Would it be possible to implement a OpenXR and or OpenVR implementation for varioues headsets? I use a custom streaming solution, thats faster than SteamVR, but doesn't work here because it uses only SteamVR.

This would be low priority at the moment but I can certainly get around to implenenting it! I know someone mentioned they used something called open composite where everything worked besides the VR keyboard, not sure if that'll help with your streaming solution but might be worth giving a shot until I can implement openvr/xr.

I use a streaming solution called WiVRn, It hooks into Lutris, a windows to linux game sandboxer, to bypass steamvr for a smoother experience. SteamVR is generally slower than OpenXR by a huge margin, so I try to use it when I can.
Right now I just forced steamVR and ALVR to solve this problem, but OpenXR would be fantastic if possible! Not at all a high priority thing for me either.

Oh wow thats cool! How is the performance of Tarkov and other games through Lutris compared to Windows? I've always wanted to make my main OS linux to get rid of all the bloatware, games are the main thing keeping me from swapping though.

So they "keyboard issue" evolves around when prompting the game to open the keyboard vr layer which isnt available in Openxr. In most cases the game will crash then. To play around this issue, when creating a new character you have to do that in flat or in steamvr. When purchasing something make sure to not click on the field but simply use your real keyboard or a keyboard in your VR OS(e.g. oculus has a keyboard or VD). This way you can enter numbers without crashing the game.

I run Arch Linux, I use VR as one of my main sources of gaming, and it runs 3-5x faster on linux. Lutris can be complex if you are trying to use VR, because it is a sandboxed solution, you need to pipe through those applications.
Games where also my main reason for not switching over, but Lutris, which is not for just games, got rid of my reason to!

Tarkov runs better, Tarkov in VR runs better, DCS runs faster, VR DCS runs faster, everything is faster.

I couldn't get it to work in Lutris, but SteamVR and ALVR work fine in Linux, OpenComposite on windows probably would work great.

Following up on this, I've looked into converting the current implementation of VR into an OpenXR implementation. I'm pretty sure it's possible, I'll take a look at it again sometime in the future but like cybensis said, this is low priority for me too.
