FR: Presets; macOS Quick Action &/Or Service; Watched Folders #115

Description

@trey-a-12

Hey, thank you so much for all your continued efforts to improve this app! With the release of version 3.0.0, I can conclusively say Compresso has landed in my digital media toolkit hall of fame, and just as I've been able to recommend it to others for video, the added image support is fantastic. Truly, thank you.

With all of these improvements, very few ideas remain unfulfilled (at least, to my limited scope), but these are three I believe could elevate the overall application experience tenfold. If you would prefer I split these into three requests, I can do that, though I feel they have a strong correlation with the right workflow.

1. Quick Presets

  • This really only makes sense in the context of the other two, but being able to set presets and invoke the latter options could be beneficial.
    • It could also be possible to disable these quick presets, such that invoking a Quick Action/Service or adding to a Watched Folder could either auto-apply the quick preset, or open the app as-is.

2. macOS Quick Action &/Or Service

  • When right-clicking an image, video, or other media file on macOS, a list of Quick Actions and/or Services are usually shown in the menu. Applications such as Clop and ImageOptim have added entries for this, allowing you to easily compress media with a right-click.
    • As discussed in point 1, this could be implemented in two variants:
      1. A quick preset mode, where choosing the Quick Action/Service instantly applies that preset without necessarily having to open the app, or
      2. A shortcut to open the app. This may not need to be the case, however, as it is currently possible to open media from the "Open With" menu. Just giving an option that could work with the quick presets.

3. Watched Folders

  • Like the aforementioned Clop, being able to set directories for automatic optimization within compressO's settings could prove beneficial.
    • This would, of course, either open the app automatically with the added files, or automatically apply quick presets.

Once more, thank you so much for continuing to make this app so amazing! Please let me know if you'd rather I split these requests into individual ones, or if more information is necessary. Have a great day!
