Thank you for your interest in contributing to mcp-awareness (the "Project"), maintained by Chris Means (the "Maintainer").
This Contributor License Agreement ("Agreement") clarifies the intellectual property rights granted with any contribution you submit to the Project. It protects you, the Maintainer, and downstream users by making the licensing of your contribution unambiguous. It does not transfer ownership of your contribution — you retain full copyright.
By signing this Agreement, you accept the terms below for your past, present, and future contributions to the Project.
- "You" means the individual who submits a Contribution to the Project. If you are submitting on behalf of your employer, you confirm you have permission to do so.
- "Contribution" means any original work of authorship, including any modifications or additions to existing work, that you intentionally submit to the Project for inclusion in, or documentation of, the Project. This includes code, documentation, configuration, tests, designs, and any other material submitted via pull request, patch, comment, or other channel.
Subject to the terms of this Agreement, you grant the Maintainer and recipients of software distributed by the Maintainer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute your Contribution and such derivative works.
Subject to the terms of this Agreement, you grant the Maintainer and recipients of software distributed by the Maintainer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer your Contribution, where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable by you that are necessarily infringed by your Contribution alone or by combination of your Contribution with the Project to which it was submitted.
You acknowledge that the Project is distributed under multiple licenses, currently:
- GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later (AGPL-3.0-or-later) for open-source use, and
- A separate commercial license offered by the Maintainer for users who cannot or do not wish to comply with the AGPL.
You expressly grant the Maintainer the right to sublicense your Contribution under any license, including proprietary commercial licenses, in addition to the AGPL. This grant is necessary to preserve the Project's ability to offer both open-source and commercial license options.
You represent that:
- Each of your Contributions is your original creation, or you have the right to submit it under the terms of this Agreement.
- Your Contribution does not knowingly violate any third party's copyrights, trademarks, patents, or other intellectual property rights.
- If your employer has rights to intellectual property you create that includes your Contribution, you have received permission to make Contributions on behalf of that employer, or your employer has waived such rights for your Contributions to the Project.
- You will notify the Maintainer if any statement above becomes inaccurate in any respect.
You understand that the decision to include your Contribution in the Project is entirely at the discretion of the Maintainer, and this Agreement does not guarantee that your Contributions will be incorporated.
Your Contribution is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement.
When you open your first pull request to the Project, the CLA bot will comment with a link and signing instructions. Sign by commenting on the pull request with the exact phrase the bot provides:
I have read the CLA Document and I hereby sign the CLA
This is a one-time action; the signature applies to all your future contributions to the Project. Your GitHub username and the timestamp of your signature will be recorded.
