Better heuristics for display colour of patch in case multiple categories are assigned

If you filter for brass and get a lead

I though that for patches with multiple categories, the ones in filter don't show if there are others that are not in the filter and can show instead.

That is / would be actually pretty great in my opinion - I don't need to see the color of the category I'm filtering out, I want to see the other one(s) if preset.

I was taking this expectation into consideration when imagining a "drill-down" through the multi level category structure outlined above.

So I think our perspectives are opposite.

Diagonal stripes? Colour gradient?

Was thinking about this as well. It would be messy, diagonal or vertical. Another idea would be to have small colored squares / dots in the top right corner of the box. The synth category color for the patch box and the rest in the corner.

Still, the dynamically changing single color still might be the best option.

It might benefit from a counter of assigned categories in one corner though, or maybe better a minimalistic indicator, that appears when there are multiple categories assigned (without showing counts).

Tangentially related - What about displaying counts of individual category occurrences in the group of filtered patches? Display a count number in each category selector. Would that take too long to query?

The AI built the database query for that in 6 minutes 10 seconds, and it seems to work beautifully. Times have changed so much.

Question now is where to display the data., The filter buttons seem to be too small to add a count?

There is some right margin to bite off from :)

But that would be overwhelming to have it there like shown above.

Maybe second row under category name? No...

Don't use absolute number and use some sort of percentage? ( the single largest count being 100%)

Don't add any additional text and visualize the percentage via the color fill of the button?

I don't think it's random, I believe it's the oldest / lowest bitindex.

What about sorting the categories by the added user editable sort_order attribute and prefer the color of the lowest sort_order category instead?
