Feature Request: SIP Interface / SIP Gateway

Description

Would it be possible to add a SIP interface / SIP gateway mode to CellDock for Mac?

The idea is to allow the cellular connection handled by CellDock to be exposed as a standard SIP endpoint or SIP trunk, so that it can be used as an external line (cellular voice gateway) for an IPPBX.

For example

Cellular Network
       │
QDC507 & Mac
       │
CellDock for Mac
       │
   SIP / RTP
       │
IPPBX (Asterisk / FreePBX / 3CX / etc.)
       │
 SIP Extensions

Desired functionality

Ideally, CellDock could provide:

  • SIP registration as a SIP extension/trunk
  • Outbound calls from the IPPBX through the cellular network
  • Incoming cellular calls forwarded to the IPPBX
  • Bidirectional RTP audio
  • DTMF support
  • Caller ID
  • Call status / hangup handling
  • SIP authentication
  • UDP and/or TCP transport
  • Configurable SIP listening/registration port

For example, an IPPBX could be configured with:

SIP Server: 192.168.1.100
SIP Port: 5060
Username: celldock
Password: ********

Then the CellDock cellular connection could appear to the PBX as a normal SIP trunk.

Use case

This would make CellDock particularly useful as a low-cost cellular-to-SIP gateway.

For example, a Mac with a cellular-capable iPhone/device could provide a mobile network line to an existing Asterisk/FreePBX installation without requiring a dedicated GSM gateway.

I believe this could also be useful for:

  • Home labs
  • Small offices
  • PBX testing
  • VoLTE / SIP experiments

Question

Do you have any plans to expose the call functionality through SIP, or provide an API that would allow developers to build a SIP gateway on top of CellDock?

Even a relatively minimal SIP/RTP interface would be very useful.

Thank you for this project!
