Player District #97

Description

@LowLevelJavaCoder

The Player District

A location where players can build shops, inns, and various other buildings. To increase roleplay depth and provide options other than adventuring. Manwe created you as a fragment to experience cycles, life, and death. Why not experience other things? Or simply, allow players to play how they wish, adventure, and run shops. This would add a simple economy partially. The story doesn't matter. But if an NPC can own a shop, why not a player?

Features

  • A new location class in Locations titled PlayerDistrictLocation.cs
  • A location accessible from Main Street named the Player District is available for both players and NPCs, but several player-only features.
  • A large mechanic tree available in the district.

Shop Creation

The district would have a command that allows a player to build a shop. The construction price will be 1 Million Gold Pieces (adjustable). The player can then set filters as to what can be bought and sold, limited in the first version, as well as base prices. The shop can be configured to only sell or only buy or a mixture of both. It would be able to be visited by other players and late NPCs. The shop could later be modified to also sell other things, such as the black market items and more. A shop will have limited inventory maximums and working hours, and you need to pay a worker (genericaly generated NPC) to manage the shop while you are not there. If you do not pay a worker, the shop closes while you are not in the Player District Location. You can upgrade a shop for increased inventory.

Inn Creation

Who says players must pay that one inn. A player can create their own inn. The construction price will be 10 Million Gold Pieces (adjustable). This higher price reflects the fact that an inn has multiple floors and rooms. A base inn will have 10 rooms, and each upgrade will add 5. For each 5 rooms you must hire one housekeeping staff. You must also higher one worker to manage it while you are away, otherwise players can not enter the Inn while you are not in the PlayerDistrictLocation. You can set prices, and for upgrades to the inn, add buffs to sleeping there. You can hire guards which protect all players equaly, and are expensive. Similarly to called to castle mechanic when the castle is being seiged, if you are online while a player attacks your inn, you get called there immediatly, and are instigated as the attacker with the first turn in said battle as it is your building.

Bank Creation

Mechanics to be detailed later. I will edit this message once I have inspiration for your bank mechanics. Probably on a later version of the PlayerDistrict with a stock market.

Conclusion

I would like to hear your opinion on the player district. I would like to implement it myself if you find that it is a good idea. Otherwise I will scrap it. Based on your information from our previous extange I ensured I formatted this issue cleanly, and recommended a feature that does not change the storyline which you have a very specific idea of. If you find that this is a valid feature, inform me and I will implement it to the best of my ability. I stress again that the name and way it is presented are entirely yours to decide. These names were the first things that came to mind. Please if you do find the idea valid, allow Me to implement it myself.
