Self-Hosted Backup & Synchronization #1826

Description

@CamelT0E

Would it be possible to add a self-hosted backup and synchronization feature in the future?

The TOTP database could be stored in an encrypted form on the user’s own server, NAS, Raspberry Pi, or mini PC. Possible storage targets could include WebDAV, (S)FTP, or SMB/Samba, without requiring any additional server-side software.

Ideally, the feature would also support automatic synchronization between multiple devices, so changes made on a smartphone, tablet, or PC are automatically synchronized with the user’s own server while the data remains encrypted.

The Android backup to Google Cloud is not really an option for privacy-conscious users, and especially not for devices without Google Play Store or Google Play Services. I personally use F-Droid to obtain my apps and therefore prefer solutions that do not depend on Google's infrastructure.
