What's wrong?

What's wrong?

The built-in laptop camera does not work on Omarchy. I also tested the same laptop on Ubuntu and the camera does not work there either, so this may not be an Omarchy-specific configuration issue.

The camera is not detected by normal webcam apps, and it appears that the built-in webcam may not be exposed as a standard USB/UVC camera. This laptop likely uses a newer MIPI/CSI/ISP camera pipeline, which may require additional kernel driver, firmware, or libcamera/media-controller support.

Expected behavior:

  • Built-in camera should appear as a usable webcam.
  • Camera should work in browser/web apps, Cheese, OBS, or other camera apps.
  • A /dev/video* device should be available if the camera is supported.

Actual behavior:

  • Built-in camera does not work.
  • Camera apps do not show a usable webcam.
  • Same issue happens on Ubuntu, so the issue may be missing upstream Linux hardware support for this laptop camera.

Could Omarchy document whether this laptop camera is unsupported upstream, or include any required packages/firmware/libcamera configuration if support exists?

Note: I am reporting this to Omarchy because I tested Omarchy and the camera did not work, but the same camera also fails on Ubuntu. So I understand this may be an upstream kernel/firmware/libcamera support issue rather than a direct Omarchy bug.
