[Bug]: Can't insert space after two letters with a period

What happened?

When I type someting like a.m. and try to continue on, i.e. "meeting is at 9 a.m. and all are invited"

the space between "a.m. and" disappears and it completes as "a.m.and"

Steps to reproduce

Open an an email and type 9 a.m. and

Expected behavior

The space between: a.m. and

should stay

Actual behavior

But it appears as

a.m.and
