Have you explained this decision somewhere? It seems not unreasonable, considering the thrust of the lengthy "constitution" document and its declaration of responsibility to users, to expect some level of transparency about the sudden departure of the core maintainer of this project, who has obviously had tremendous influence on the decisions therein, and the appointment of a new maintainer. It also looks like you have remained active in the repository despite this statement. The "constitution" document at times uses first-person and I'm not even clear on who that person is, @aurelienpierre or @Jiyone ?

I was convinced by @aurelienpierre 's lates youtube video to try Ansel again and I found myself agreeing with all design/UI/UX choices he explains and also with the general ethic about the project (community, attention to performance etc).
I assuming they were Aurelienne's choices and I would'n want him to leave the project. I would prefer a clarification stating the he is in fact still active but that the project has new people to work on.

More clarity would help, since people who switch from darktable basically commit to a path of non return, since the two software are diverging and it will not be possible to go back and forth.

I'm smoothing the transition while @Jiyone takes over, closing the last files that require my knowledge, giving a hand here and there, but consider me gone. The maintainer is @Jiyone and he will need a proper working structure, a co-operative to work in safe conditions. Some pages might need rewriting, that will be done in time.

@aurelienpierre I hope you will in time rethink your decision. I'm slowly reading all documentation and the work done is impressive, in vision, scope and sheer effort.
The software itself is nice to use, "doesn't fight you" as sometime darktable does.
This is to say that software is in fact built by people, and losing such an important contributor would be a net loss (you might decide to stay behind the scene).

Anyway @Jiyone I also deeply appreciate your work!

You have no idea what this fucking software has cost me. It's been 8 years of my life already, no joy and very little satisfaction. Let alone making a proper living out of it. The only reason I'm still "here" is so all that won't have been for nothing.

agreed. Maybe it's just a matter of waiting a little. Ansel should spread around more, more users could bring a little satisfaction and maybe more financial support. In you latest video it shows that you care.
