in ircd-chatd, all the code is out of date. it's still modnar 0.4 i think. this issue is a sympton of bitrot in the codebase and I am honestly not surprised I never fixed the config file examples. ircd-chatd is supposed to be an easy to install ircd for the people. I mean, for Christ's sake, it is named after the old programming project of a 12 year old who was 11 at the time.
To solve this issue will take redoubled efforts from a jaded programmer. This issue blocks the ircd-chatd 0.2.9 release, and indeed is a matter of incomplete and incompetent documentation by me. I haven't done C code in an absolute millennium.
