I was hoping 1.2.14 completes changes required to make GOG data to be separate from everything else, but as I was thinking through logistics of storing other stores downloads - realized downloads folder is currently a generic one, incidentally serving GOG.com downloads only. Few options I've considered:
- keep it as is, add sub-folders for GOG, EGS, Steam, etc
- keep it as is for GOG, create new folders for EGS, Steam, etc.
- rename it as GOG-specific, create new downloads folders for other stores
I'm heavily leaning #3, even if that's going to be a breaking change. Option 1 means less flexibility for users who would need to allocate a single volume to all stores downloads, this would also require migration. Options 2 means living with inconsistency and keeping in mind that downloads is GOG.com specific. Option 3 is the cleanest solution - most flexible, since users would be able to allocate per-store downloads in separate volumes (e.g. separate HDDs) and naming scheme should be durable and consistent.
