Use lgogdownloader method to get GOG cookies?

Hi, I'm interested in trying out this software as I start to accumulate more purchases on GOG, but I'm somewhat turned off by the way that I need to login by pulling cookies out of my browser to to authenticate to GOG. There's a tool lgogdownloader (https://github.com/Sude-/lgogdownloader) that has a separate --login flag which handles this process automatically (though I admit I'm not sure what it's doing under the hood). Is there any way that you would consider such a feature for this tool? Cheers

I haven't seen what lgogdownloader uses either - but assume it's some variation of GOG.com login flow. vangogh used to support that in earlier versions and I've removed assuming it would be easier to standardize on cookies (once learned - it's super easy to update and logging out of GOG.com would invalidate that as well) vs username/password/2-factor codes in terminal.

That said - I'm not opposed to bring that code back as it's been working for years before I removed it and I expect it should work with little/no modifications when restored.

Perhaps counterintuitively - I would suggest you maybe wait for a bit before trying vangogh. Through other users feedback I've realized the current process to get started is overly complex and can be improved a lot with relatively simple changes. Tracking concrete work in #107 - subscribing to that issue would notify you when it's better time to try vangogh.

Thanks, subscribed! Though if I find some time I might give this a try anyway as it looks really interesting and I think would let me avoid needing to run lgogdownloader in cron or something

You'd still need to schedule regular syncs with something like cron, externally to the app itself as vangogh doesn't have scheduling capabilities (intentionally, might change in the future).

The reason I'm suggesting to wait is that currently you'd need to wait for a full sync to complete to see anything interesting, which might take several days, depending on the size of the collection. After the changes in the onboarding issue - getting to something meaningful would take few minutes.
