Getting started with Dimo - do I need $DCX?

Hello,
New to DIMO, previous WattCatt user, and just setting up HA at home. Love your work @ardevd . This now looks like the best/only way forward to automate based on car data. I'm hoping to include the iPace's charge status in HA dashboards or to trigger automations like setting an RGB if it needs charging.

Signed up with Dimo a few days ago, and linked it to the car OK. I have accrued some 2.837 DIMO (0.33 USD) but the DCX balance is zero. Installed ha-dimo via HACS as a custom repo. That's all good, but I don't yet have the API key.

In console.dimo.org I see:

• Purchase DCX [Pending]
• Create an application [Pending]

Does that mean I need to purchase DMX in order to get an API key? I can't seem to use my DIMO balance for that - maybe it's a web IU problem.

Am I missing something obvious?

Aside, as someone might know - what is it that Dimo (or SmartCar?) has or are offering JLR to allow them to use the API, when everyone else (even Big Energy like Octopus and other smart-EV energy providers) is no longer allowed since the JLR locked down the for third parties? Is it just some fleetwide data deal?

Hey!

Credits are no longer needed to mint the app license. However, there have been recent issues with the console which have just been fixed. I suggest logging into the console with a fresh browser session (incognito) and trying again. If you're still having problems I suggest popping into the DIMO discord server and ask on the Builders channel there.

As for SmartCar, afaik, they have a special arrangement with JLR which I'm not privy to the details of unfortunately.

Have you tried logging into the console with a fresh browser session (incognito) and try there?

Just tried the logging out and in again, after a few iterations i managed to see the create app button. Next problem is it wont allow me to create an app, i get the Oops! ... something went wrong message. Incognito gave the same error. Going to try a few more logout/logins then try to get some help on the discord server if no joy.

I'm not sure why my browser wasn't showing the button to create the app, even after the free license miniting, but coming back a few weeks later it all worked exactly as per your README.md instructions. Side note: console.dimo.org doesn't render very nicely in mobile browsers at present, but that's not much of an issue.

I had some errors errors initially because I hadn't shared all the permissions, but I see another thread about that. Oh and props to dawnofwar911 for pointing out the ability to change units to miles!
