From be21e597aba629fcb2ec5f2e818f0edf3d2fb708 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Thomas Dionisi Date: Tue, 15 Sep 2026 17:25:39 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] [arcane, mesh] Leave a connectivity that never gets a connected item unallocated 64% of the notifySourceItemAdded of a cartesian build are for connectivities that stay empty for the whole run. While one has never had a connected item its two per-source variables stay at size 0 and its views are served from a shared buffer of zeros; the first addConnectedItem(), or the first write of a protection, allocates for real. The zero buffers grow by powers of two while the mesh is built. At the end of each mesh update every lazy view moves to one buffer of exactly the size of the largest family, and a buffer is freed when its last reader leaves it. 11.1% gain on the mesh build, on a 640k-cell cartesian mesh at one rank. Off by default: ARCANE_LAZY_CONNECTIVITY=1 enables it. --- .../IIncrementalItemConnectivityInternal.h | 3 + .../mesh/IncrementalItemConnectivity.cc | 203 +++++++++++++++++- .../arcane/mesh/IncrementalItemConnectivity.h | 21 ++ arcane/src/arcane/mesh/ItemFamily.cc | 3 + arcane/src/arcane/mesh/LazyMemoryPool.cc | 159 ++++++++++++++ .../src/arcane/mesh/internal/LazyMemoryPool.h | 96 +++++++++ arcane/src/arcane/mesh/srcs.cmake | 2 + 7 files changed, 485 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) create mode 100644 arcane/src/arcane/mesh/LazyMemoryPool.cc create mode 100644 arcane/src/arcane/mesh/internal/LazyMemoryPool.h diff --git a/arcane/src/arcane/core/internal/IIncrementalItemConnectivityInternal.h b/arcane/src/arcane/core/internal/IIncrementalItemConnectivityInternal.h index 66375fa9dd..4aaeb5ec4f 100644 --- a/arcane/src/arcane/core/internal/IIncrementalItemConnectivityInternal.h +++ b/arcane/src/arcane/core/internal/IIncrementalItemConnectivityInternal.h @@ -60,6 +60,9 @@ class ARCANE_CORE_EXPORT IIncrementalItemConnectivityInternal //!
