[Idea] Add location to expenses, with ability to search/filter via location

Problem or opportunity

Having location attached to an expense would show where exactly we spent. This is especially helpful in case of payments to restaurants or such places.

Desired outcome

When adding an expense, we can either add current location of the device or add it from the attached receipt (if it has the GPS metadata).

The option should be opt-in since it concerns privacy.

Additional context

Since trips are to be remembered, having locations attached somewhere is also part of it.

I have tried to make a quick prototype of this feature, but the feeling i got is that it adds a lot of bloat into simple entry. Do you have some reference app to see how they have solved the entry process of location?

Does immich count? Can we not ask for location permission and just use the current longitude/latitude values? Or am I thinking too straight?

This might be not something the app is meant for but we could then show trips and their corresponding expenses like Revolut;
