TUI becomes laggy/unresponsive with large sessions (1000+ messages)

Description

When a session accumulates ~1200 messages, the TUI exhibits:

1. Scrolling/paging becomes noticeably stuttery
2. After typing input, the UI freezes for several seconds before responding

This issue might be related to existing issues. Please check:
