RTSP and gstream

I am having a few issues with vimbasrc. Let me give some context. We are attempting to gather data for a defect classficiation project. I have four jetson xavier's in a factory running on a private on prem network. The only other device on this network is a server. I am running your rtsp py script exactly and I am getting very bad RTSP output, pixelation, blocks, and gray scale. My first question is whether you have some alternative options for the gstream script in your RTSP under samples? I can share some samples of data privately. When testing with Vimbaviewer vs RTSP the quality is drastically different despite no latency or hardware issues on the network.

I have an 1800-507 per line with gstream and vimbasrc on each xavier.

Additionally, if I use your sample to save files locally on the jetson itself I am getting errors. I can email you the debug information and logs but my primary concern is the RTSP issue. I only attempted to save locally to get around quality issues with RTSP for initial data capture.

I have been tinkering on this for about 4 months and not getting any better results.

for anything that can't be posted here, please refer to our support form on the website, to open a support ticket.

Further information needed would be:

• example images of the artifacts
• camera model interface (USB, Ethernet, CSI)
• camera firmware version
• camera serial number (only for the support form, not the Github forum)
• OS, Jetpack or L4T version in this case
• any error codes, debug information and in what circumstances they come up

Generel tips with RTSP are:

• We generally see significant lag with the RTSP system.
• The pipeline needs to specifically set the pixel format, if a color format is needed. Otherwise it will be mono.
• We see some compression artefacts in the darker areas, e.g. banding, but no significant loss in resolution or blocks (?).
• If you get the error message "x264 [error]: baseline profile doesn't support 4:4:4", make sure that video/x-raw,format=I420 is included in the pipeline.
