Unable to send mail

When I manually run the cron job using n98-magerun.phar sys:cron:run I see this error:

Run Aligent_Feeds_Model_Cron::exportFeeds sendmail: Cannot open mail:25

  [Zend_Mail_Transport_Exception]  
  Unable to send mail.             

sys:cron:run [job]

Root cause: The cluster I am using is not configured to dispatch email through sendmail but instead uses ASchroder’s MageSend module to integrate with Amazon SES.

My questions: Does this module need to be updated to use the email distribution scheme I have configured in the application? Do I need to perform additional configuration steps for this module? Should this module’s README be updated to explain mail integration requirements?
