Permission to Accept Voluntary Donations for a Pearcleaner-Based Project
#609
Hi alienator88,
First of all, thank you for developing Pearcleaner! I've found its app updater particularly useful.
I'm planning to create a lightweight macOS app called UpPear, based on Pearcleaner's existing code, focusing specifically on checking updates from the Mac App Store, Homebrew, and Sparkle, while adding support for Microsoft AutoUpdate.
UpPear will be completely free and publicly available on GitHub, with full attribution to Pearcleaner and its original license and copyright notices preserved.
I'd like to ask for your permission to include an optional donation link (such as GitHub Sponsors or Buy Me a Coffee), mainly to help offset the cost of my Apple Developer Program membership.
To be clear, 100% of UpPear's features will remain free and accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they donate. There will be no paid features, subscriptions, or exclusive benefits for supporters.
Since I understand that Pearcleaner's license includes the Commons Clause, I'd like to get your explicit permission before accepting any donations.
Would you be comfortable with this arrangement?
Thanks again for your work and for making Pearcleaner available to the community!
Best regards,
suchsu
