I need help

I am very new to all of this and am struggling to see where I am going wrong , the readme isn't too friendly to a noob like me.

I keep getting "command not found vimeo-dl"

I have latest python, latest version of go and ffmpeg but I have no idea why it isn't working or what I am supposed to do. Could someone possibly help me out?

the python site-packages dir is not in your path
go to your python folder (usually %localappdata%\Programs\Python<YOUR PYTHON VERSION like Python313>),
go to the Scripts dir
find vimeo-dl.exe, select it, hit Alt+Tab and copy the value of "Location"
paste it in your terminal, and before running the command enter vimeo-dl.exe at the back
now add your arguments and voila

i can help you if these didnt work
also, are you on linux? cause the tutorial i gave here is for windows

Thankyou for your reply, I am using mac but with those instructions I got a little further, I am now struggling to attain the master jason file for the video I want to download? Also instead of me having to type the path of the vimeo-dl file every time where do I need to move it to? it's currently in same folder I cloned this repo to. Ty for your time.

This tool does not use python. Also, if you download the pre-built binary, no go is required. You only need ffmpeg if you need video and audio integration.

If you are using macOS, download vimeo-dl_0.2.0_darwin_arm64.tar.gz from the latest release for Apple Silicon Macs; for Intel Macs, download vimeo-dl_0.2.0_darwin_amd64.tar.gz.

The *.tar.gz is a compressed file, so use the tar command to decompress it. When you run it, you should get the following output.

❯ tar zxvf ~/Downloads/vimeo-dl_0.2.0_darwin_amd64.tar.gz
x LICENSE
x README.md
x vimeo-dl

In this directory, you will find vimeo-dl. To run a file that exists in the current directory, run . prefix is required.For example, you can run the following.

./vimeo-dl -i “https://skyfire.vimeocdn.com/xxx/yyy/live-archive/video/240p,360p,540p,720p,1080p/master.json?base64_init=1&query_ string_ranges=1”

I really wish the readme would tell you what tools you need to use things from this site. Doesn't seem like a lot to ask for. How do I learn what I need when looking at files on here? I also still need to know how to find a master Jason of the video they seem to be hidden?

You need to get the master.json file from the site. Open up the console tools with F12 in your browser, go to the "Network" tab and reload the video site. Then you can search for master.json or playlist.json. This is the URL you need. With playlist.json you need to combine:
