What I actually did while setting up a new machine

steps

• update trackpad speed
• install lastpass
• turn on chrome sync
• open terminal and type git
• I get the following message:

xcode-select: note: no developer tools were found at '/Applications/Xcode.app', requesting install. Choose an option in the dialog to download the command line developer tools.

• I agree to install
• git clone https://github.com/adriancarriger/dotfiles.git ~/.dotfiles
• ~/.dotfiles/scripts/bootstrap
• /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"(due to 404 - probably worth it's own issue)
• I had to restart the bootstrap a few times because it took so long that it re-required sudo
• log into mac app store and restart bootstrap (Requires a user to be signed into the Mac App Store #66)
• it finished and I open iterm - it doesn't recognize the location of the settings file, so I set that manually (Failed to load preferences from custom directory. Falling back to local copy. #70)
• run each command (followed by password from here: Set zsh as default shell in macOS #73
• close and open a new shell instance
• my work computer doesn't have the same username, so I change that in the dotfiles (

• vscode insiders theme or settings doesn't appear to be linked correctly
• had to manually link vscode settings: https://github.com/adriancarriger/dotfiles/blob/master/vscode/install-version.sh#L7-L9
• cd && mkdir closed-source open-source work
• create new github dev key
