Information Technology and Systems Center, The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, AL

  • Projects and Research Experience

EarthData Pub

NASA's Earthdata Pub is a centralized platform designed to assist researchers worldwide in publishing their Earth Science data at NASA's Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs). It streamlines the data publication process, offering comprehensive tools and resources for researchers while ensuring data compliance with NASA Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS) standards.

NASA Cloud-based Analytical Framework for Precipitation

In collaboration with the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (NASA/MSFC), the project focuses on software development and machine learning model development to enhance the resolution of GPM data and improve the identification of convective-scale precipitation features, particularly outside the range of ground-based weather radar. This resolution enhancement technology is called super-resolution or downscaling.

Sally Ride EarthKAM

Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle School Students (EarthKAM) is a NASA educational outreach program that enables students, teachers, and the public to learn about Earth from the unique perspective of space. Students sign up for missions and request images, and the International Space Station captures the images for them.

NASA Earth Observations for Health (NEOH)

The NEOH project strives to improve malaria control decision-making in sub-Saharan Africa by developing and deploying technology that incorporates the latest NASA Earth observations (surface temperatures, precipitation, and vegetation health) into the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2), used across all sub-Saharan African countries.

Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center Projects

The Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center (GHRC) provides a comprehensive active archive of data and knowledge augmentation services focusing on hazardous weather, its governing processes, and associated applications. Within this broad mandate, GHRC focuses on lightning, tropical cyclones, and storm-induced hazards through integrated collections of satellite, airborne, and in-situ datasets. GHRC is a partnership between NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) and The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

Earthdata Search

Earthdata Search is NASA's comprehensive platform for discovering and accessing Earth Science data from its Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs). It provides advanced search features, including spatial, temporal, and data type parameter filters. Users can visualize, download, and integrate data programmatically via APIs or the Earthdata Download Tool for efficient bulk data retrieval. Earthdata Search empowers researchers, educators, and decision-makers worldwide to leverage NASA's extensive Earth observation data for scientific research and practical applications.
