Hoping to see the telemetry for RPM, Temp and support for more than one battery in Codeberg. Let me know if I need to raise a request in Codeberg. |

I know it's been a minute since I last did any work on CFA here, and I do tend to take quite lengthy breaks from coding to recover from burn-out. But this time feels different. I'm not bouncing back from the burnout like I used to, and it almost feels like I have lost the drive to keep going I once had.
I am now at the point where I can't stand the sight of GitHub. Seeing it with all the AI plastered all over it and forcing you to use it makes me inexplicably angry, and I don't like that. That is the same reason why I block ads, because they have the same negative effect on me and that's not healthy by any stretch of the imagination.
Not only that, CoPilot subscriptions are changing. They're doing away with annual subscriptions (I have cancelled mine on 2026-04-30), and making it more usage-based billing (likely to extract more money out of you), and to that I say "fuck your greed!"
From 2021 to 2026-04-30, I have been using GitHub CoPilot as a glorified predictive text (like what our phones used to have). However, they have gone from that to favouring agentic AI more.
I refuse to use agentic AI.
I have severe trust issues due to trauma (C-PTSD go brrrr). What on Earth makes anyone think I would trust an AI agent to act on my behalf when I can not bring myself to trust a person to do the same? It's beggar's belief to think I would do anything other than say "Fuck off, I'll do it myself!"
I'd rather have full control over what I write, and I don't want to be wasting my time fixing bugs and vulnerabilities introduced by some AI hallucinating harder than my fursona after a bad LSD trip.
I don't care that "AI is the future". I don't believe the hype.
The reality is while I have been using AI to assist my coding with my personal projects (apart from me using CoPilot's code suggestions as a glorified predictive text, I have kept it well enough away from CFA), it has increased my productivity but to the point where it has burnt me out more severely than I'd be if I wrote my code-base 'the old fashioned way' (never thought I'd see the day where I say that in context with coding. Holy shit, what a dystopian nightmare we live in).
I'm at the point with AI where I wish it was never invented. I wish it never existed, and yet... here we are.
Somebody reading this might be like "Oh but that sounds like a skill issue." Bruh! I hyper-fixate! =-/.-=
No really. I cannot control that. I get so focused on a task that I become locked-in with that task and it's impossible for me to disengage from it, even despite me internally screaming at myself to disengage from it and do something else... like look after myself.
Historically, this has been the reason why I'd be coding through the night, and still be coding at 1100~1200 Hrs the following day.
AI exploits that.
That said, I want to get as far away from AI as I possibly can. I want to like the tech, I really do. But not like this. Not at my own expense, and certainly not to the detriment of my physical, mental, and spiritual health. I need to get the fuck off of GitHub and take CFA elsewhere, and Codeberg is it. It's non-profit community-based and they actually give a shit about developers. Unlike GitHub where they fuck over small-time indie developers to cater to their
circle-jerkalready established big ticket, big organisations who have a whole army of developers at their disposal. That shit doesn't sit right with me.
The more I think about this, the more I realise I am a person with her own life to live. It just so happens that I am an independent developer as well. My priority has been with my life, it always has been. I can't churn out thousands upon thousands of commits every single day, it's not practical for me to do it. I refuse to use AI to achieve that as well, and I'm not even going to try.
I'd rather go at my own pace, and keep that passion I have for coding alive and well. I don't want to be burnt out. I don't want to look at my code hosting site and feel enraged over how much it wants me to use their agentic AI when I already cannot trust a person to do the same thing.
When I do make the move to Codeberg, I will post a follow-up announcement here in my Discussions tab.
Thank you all for being here, and using CFA in your projects. It really means a lot to me that you do, especially when I created this project telling myself "Nobody will use it because it's far too niche to be usable for anything"... once again, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
