Bug Description

Hi, I copied a screenshot into the clipboard, and when I want to edit that the ctrl+v can't paste the image.

OS: KDE Neon
Screenshot program: Spectacle

Steps to Reproduce

1. Press the printscreen key on keyboard
2. ctrl+C
3. ctrl+v in OpenPencil

Expected Behavior

Paste the screenshot

Thanks for reporting this, and for including the KDE Neon and Spectacle details. We'll look into the Linux clipboard path and try to fix screenshot image pasting with Ctrl+V.

Thanks again for the report. We reviewed the current clipboard implementation, but we cannot confirm that this issue is resolved yet.

Version 0.8.1 already included the code path for pasting system clipboard images onto the canvas, and the OS image clipboard reader has not changed since then. This suggests that the problem may be specific to the Linux clipboard backend or the clipboard formats exposed by KDE/Spectacle, rather than the Ctrl+V shortcut itself. In particular, the current Linux build uses the X11 clipboard backend and does not enable native Wayland data-control support.

Could you please:

• Try reproducing the issue with the latest release (v0.8.2).
• Let us know whether echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE reports x11 or wayland.
• Confirm whether Spectacle is configured to copy the screenshot directly to the clipboard.

We will keep this issue open while we verify the KDE Neon/Spectacle clipboard path.

• I installed 0.8.2, but the issue still exists.

Thanks for confirming. This narrows the issue down significantly: it is still reproducible in v0.8.2 under Wayland, even though Spectacle has placed the screenshot on the clipboard.

This strongly suggests that the problem is in the Linux Wayland image-clipboard path or in compatibility with the clipboard formats exposed by Spectacle, rather than in the Ctrl+V handling itself. We will keep this issue open and investigate native Wayland clipboard support and the relevant image formats.
