Thanks for the report.

It is difficult to identify the exact cause from the screenshot alone. What I can confirm is that Bracket Pair Guides draws only one vertical guide using the active pair’s color.

I cannot confirm whether this is the cause in your case, but I opened #30 to track a related interaction with IntelliJ’s built-in editor guides:

• Current scope highlights the indent guide for the scope at the caret.
• Show indent guides displays the underlying gray indent guide.

Please try the following:

• To remove only the highlighting, disable Current scope under Settings | Editor | General | Code Editing | Highlight on Caret Movement.
• To hide the gray guide completely, disable Show indent guides under Settings | Editor | General | Appearance.

If the extra line remains after disabling these options, it is likely being drawn by another plugin.

This option is enabled by default, but it appears disabled in your settings.

It seems this needs a clearer explanation, so I updated #30. It will provide guidance through a notification balloon and clearer wording on the settings screen in cases like the one you encountered.

The next release may take until September 12, and it may take another 2–3 days to reach users.
