Dated working records behind the grown tier. The per-list ledgers in
../corpus/climb-ledger/ are the authoritative
record (residue, keep-rates, by: run labels); these notes narrate the
episodes a reader would otherwise have to reconstruct from JSONL. Model names
below are the run labels used in the ledgers: "Fable" entries are Claude
(fable-class) runs, "Astra" entries are GPT-6 Astra (Codex) runs.
Three lists show the practice in motion, each grown in two authored breaths and admitted only after an independent Fable-run critic in a fresh context accepted the distinctions and conditional maps:
- Traces of the unlived — a ghost load is the upper floor never built, still governing the rooms below.
- Discovery delights — an orchard in a rule is the moment understanding starts producing unfamiliar cases.
- Question metamorphoses — an unborn witness is the instrument or setting that must exist before a difference can leave a trace.
Their encounter opened another question — what kinds of witnesses must be built before a fact can become knowable? — recorded as an opening, not an already-enumerated fourth list. The September 7 fleet took that opening up as witness-architectures.
A Gemini 3.8 Flash experiment explored eight territories in separate contexts, each followed by its own second breath. Twenty calls — including two failed attempts and two fresh, plainer-prompt reruns — produced 154 complete candidate proposals. Median client round-trip: 16.4 seconds; provider cost estimated from returned tokens and posted prices: $0.178. This is not a controlled speed or quality comparison with another model.
Two edited specimens entered the atlas: Institutions that can dream keeps alternatives alive and asks how an institution can tolerate their eventual vindication; Alien forms of intimacy derives closeness from invented forms of embodiment. An Astra reviewer independently examined every self-kept candidate; the admitted specimens are repaired Flash proposals, not untouched outputs. The other six fields and their critiques remain in the experiment file, not the curated catalog. Verdict: Flash was a productive sketcher but an unreliable self-curator — physical jargon repeatedly disguised unsupported mechanisms, and simpler prompts did not reliably cure the problem.
somatic-decompositions.json records a fork
breath that decomposed each of the 78 somatic-signals items into
somatic-atoms, with a boundary claim and a note on the generative
grammar. It is an experiment record, not an admitted map: the
decompositions were never gated into the catalog.
The paired maps cooperation-integrity-hinges and
contribution-credit-hinges apply the pole ↔ pole — hinge: discriminator
form to existential cooperation and contribution accounting. Their authored
orders follow the agreement lifecycle and attribution workflow, respectively.
Astra drafted them; a Fable critic challenged the categories and exposed a
vague settlement hinge and a misplaced phase, repaired before admission. The
ledger records the repairs and limits: these are open conceptual hypotheses,
not field-validated laws, exhaustive enumerations, or a claim of worldwide
novelty. Their numerical seriation scores are unmeasured, and neither map has
fabricated coordinates.
Two further breaths on pivot-invariants, interoceptive-atoms, impasse-inventions, and cooperation-integrity-hinges: 164 candidates, 85 admitted, 79 recorded rejections. Independent Fable review admitted five proposed repairs as distinct additional mechanisms instead of replacements, for 90 net additions, and rejected 15 substitutions that flattened the originals. The ledger preserves both decisions: a truthful boundary is not a license to domesticate the list. This exercised P11 gap-finding and P22 refutation; it did not exhaust the possible categories or establish empirical efficacy.
Five Fable-run authors worked five territories in separate contexts, two
breaths each; five Fable critics in fresh contexts ran the sharpening check
against the text; five repairers applied the critiques. Every author,
critic, and repair turn was verified as claude-fable-5-1 from the
transcripts, including the specific write that produced each admitted file.
The interactive quota ran out mid-fleet and four agents died before writing;
their jobs reran headless on other pool accounts, so no artifact came from a
downgraded turn. All five maps were admitted with repairs, none without:
- Witness architectures — what must exist before a difference can leave a trace, including what the witness must be built not to see; a blindfolded tally records the electorate only because no one can record a voter. The critic found the map's own center drawn on the wrong axis: a blinded assessor is a witness kept from the allocation with a sealed key, a third case between the hide and the tally, not a variant of the hide.
- Fertile forgettings — losses that produce a capacity the kept thing forbade; a ceremony of ash is a proof system sound only if someone visibly forgot. The critic showed the hinge item confused witnessed with foreseeable erasure (the seventh-year release was foreseen, free, and dried up credit); the far side of the hinge now reads witnessed-but-not-priced. Rediscoverable coast was cut as a non-transmission rather than a loss.
- Clocks that are not clocks — states that retain readable time with no device built to keep it; a lattice of rites makes some elders incomparable. Seven illustrations let built timekeepers back in (a postmark, a dead man's switch, a Lamport tally) and were replaced under the map's own exclusion.
- Passages between levels — crossings that arrive as a different kind of thing, with a taker on the far side; a prion's fold survives the meal. The dither hinge's recoverable gradient was bounded to the width of the noise, and the taker criterion the fieldwork had used silently was written into the declared type.
- Forms of return — comings-back distinguished by where the licensing sameness is kept; a writ returns inscribed with its own interval. Nine absolutes the map's own cases falsified were repaired (people saw Halley's comet in both 1910 and 1986).
The briefs and the five critiques are in
../corpus/fable-maps-2026-09-07/; the
ledgers carry each breath and the repair as a third line. These are authored
conceptual fieldwork with independent editorial review, not empirical
taxonomies; each map's boundary_claim states its limits.
A standing direction: more ideonomy of business — pricing, markets,
cooperation, deal flow. Nine territories ran through the same pipeline as the
morning fleet (two authored breaths, a fresh-context Fable critic, a Fable
repairer), all headless on pool accounts, all verified claude-fable-5-1 on
every artifact write. The register was set to operator-grade mechanism, no
consultant vocabulary. Every map was admitted with repairs; every critic
found at least one real defect, most often a declared type the author had
applied selectively:
- What a price does — work a price does besides clearing; a rack rate is paid by no one and exists so every real price can be a favor. Loop: a fee collected often enough becomes the open price of an option, and the door no longer shuts.
- Market births — what must exist before a thing can be priced; a grade that erases the farm. The critic added the commonest third path to the queue fork: the host sells the jump and keeps the queue.
- Deal deaths — how a deal both sides want fails to close; paper as insult, a retrade that turns price into character. Loop: a price found too precisely can only be repaired by a retrade the other side reads as character.
- Deal-flow attractors — why flow bends toward a node; forty jewelers on one street each receive more than one alone. The critic split the tollgate: compulsory passage through one desk is not the same as passage through any of a thousand.
- Where margin hides — margin that lives away from the sticker; the medallion is a hiding place that survived every competitor and got priced. Unresolved: the rented right (the airport concession) is a medallion paid yearly.
- Pricing-unit metamorphoses — the priced unit changes kind; the assay eats the item, the reader becomes the ton, a streaming payout is a quotient, not a price.
- Cooperation ignitions — the first cooperative move between strangers; a beach with no faces, a hostage before the ask, a sin in common. The critic showed the "no enforcer" clause was not the criterion actually applied (an earn-out has a court).
- Clean exits — leaving with something named surviving; sell the seat, not the house; leave the comb. The critic repaired the passage from deal to trade: a runoff book is a seat sold below zero.
- Market deaths — a market that still quotes but no longer is one; a warm corpse, a witness starving, a test before the pool. Two members failed the map's own boundary rule (a fenced right clearing at a tenth is alive) and were repaired.

Openings the fleet left for the next expedition, recorded in each map's
priorities and the critics' unresolved seeds: the tollgate that must buy;
the party who can be bound as a market precondition; the customary ignition
nobody lights any more; whether a copy of the lot exists as a second axis of
market death. These are authored conceptual fieldwork with independent
editorial review, not empirical taxonomies.
The standing direction widened the same day to anything about surviving in
the economy, the psychology of doing so, and status. Six territories were
briefed for someone who has to survive rather than someone who runs a
company, with self-help vocabulary banned from the register. The first map
admitted is low-chair-advantages, seriated by where a low chair's advantage
is kept (the beliefs of those above, the record kept about one, what one
holds, the floor itself, a second order held on purpose) because that
decides the moment on rising at which it is lost. The critic caught a
civil-only shield and a cash case filed under credit; both were repaired.
runway-illusions found its live question was whether the clock is cash at
all: it seriates by how far the real clock lies from the cash ledger, and its
new member, Runway in shots, counts attempts rather than months for anyone
who must find a thing before the money ends. self-trust-repairs seriates by
when a witness may enter, from repairs that fail if anyone is present while
the judgment is exercised to repairs that need a stranger afterward; its new
member, Silent minority report, dates the overruled view before folding.
pressure-transmutations seriates by what the form does with the load: forms
that spend it (a beat, a retelling, a shared round), forms that hold it and
give it back when removed, and forms that outlive it; its new member, Tin of
string, is a rule made under a load and kept when the load is gone. The
critic caught the removal test's own demonstrator carrying a case that fails
it.
status-conversions seriates by who must write the new entry for the
conversion to hold, from conversions nobody writes (the eye converts beauty
into audience on its own) through a witness at a moment, a witness who pays,
and a registrar; its new member, Standing left at the border, follows from
conferred standing being a balance in the conferrers' ledger rather than in
the holder. The critic found six items omitting the fraud site the type
promises and one whose compensation clause contradicted its own veteran.
survival-floors, the last, seriates by what standing on the floor does to
it: floors that exist only by being stood on (a right that lapses unused, a
ledger that grows by giving), floors that use neither feeds nor consumes, and
floors that use wears; its new member, Prove the fall, is the means-tested
floor reachable only by proving no other floor exists. The critic found nine
illustrative cases breaking their own item's discriminator, the fleet's
commonest defect after the selectively applied type.
Openings the critics left: advantages spent by use rather than lost by
exposure (a second axis for the low chair); the parked load, held in hours
and returned unchanged; lead-time floors, where the last months of a runway
are spent buying the next one; what the witness may do, not only when it may
enter; marriage as registrar of status conversions; which hands can see which
floors. Every map's author and repair writes were verified as Fable-served
before admission. Briefs and critiques are in

The direction widened once more, toward maps that help someone move well
through many important domains at once and change register on purpose. Six
territories were briefed. The first admitted is who-can-be-bound, the
market-precondition seed from the business critics: it seriates by what the
party must have done for the hold to exist, from holds everyone walks in
with (a body that can be brought) through holds bought at the door in an
hour, to holds that only staying confers. Its new member, Portable file,
is the stay done elsewhere that binds here only if a registry carries the
record out. The critic found the map's main dependency edge partitioned
wrongly (custody filed as court-free, a brand filed as a court hold); the
repair re-split it by whether the hold needs a judgment against the party
itself, which names the kneecap, not the body, as the court-free opening.
domain-entry-keys seriates by how much of the key survives the crossing
between domains, from the key that is the same in every lock (the outcome
question one must not ask) to keys that must be re-found every time; its new
member, Tourist key, is the stable, teachable, false simplification a
domain manufactures for the strangers it must face. The critic's best
finding was a split the type hid: the client-stranger and the hands-stranger
turn different keys, and the map now carries that as its seed.
importance-detectors seriates by how much residence a detector needs to
run, from a form read outside the building in an afternoon to the one that
runs only at failure; its standout, Fudged figure, reads the judge's
importance on one side of the massaged number and the domain's contempt for
it on the other. The critic caught the map not applying its own changed
question (afternoon legibility is built for an outside judge) to its
showcase cases; the repair re-sorted them into the judge column.
register-jumps, the fleet's centre, seriates by whose hand the carrier
of the jump is in: from carriers the weaker party owns outright and no room
can confiscate (a body, a first person, a calendar, a question the holder is
bound to answer), through carriers the weaker party can bring but the room
must complete (a laugh, a kinship sentence, a written reply), through
carriers lent by an institution, to carriers only the holder of the room
owns. Its standout, Am I being detained?, makes an ambiguous encounter a
declared one by asking which register it is in, at the cost to the holder of
the ambiguity that let them act in one register while accountable in
another. The critic cut one item that restated the admitted Invoice that
ends the favor, and the walk now closes on a reception nothing can be
handed to.
tollgates-that-must-buy, the business seed, seriates by who holds the
clock that compels the gate and therefore how the compulsion can lapse: from
a writ held by a higher gate (only repeal ends it), through the passers' own
clocks, the gate's own ledger and franchise, to its mandate and finally its
habit, where one survived refusal ends it. Its standout, Borrowed eyes, is
the gate that must decide on evidence it cannot make and so buys its sight
from the party it is gating. The critic widened the type: the gate buys by
its position as gate from whoever can read the compulsion, not only from
those who pass it.
lead-time-floors, the last, seriates by when the replacement's clock can
run relative to the source's: run ahead and shelved, pre-started, run at
exercise on another's calendar, run only inside the dying runway, or begun
only after the death. Its standout, Staggered stand, is the only purchase
where the lead time is elapsed time itself: a cohort started at every age,
whose fake is the missing cohort, invisible until the year it would have
matured. The critic separated its central item from runway-illusions'
Watched burn by naming the mechanism, the clock read as a signal that thins
the field.
Openings the critics left: the two strangers (client and hands) who turn
different keys; the distribution around a judge's published threshold as a
detector in its own right; the algebra of lead times, which add along a path
and which take the maximum; the state of emergency as the holder's own
register jump; the un-poolable rival a gate commissions to destroy its sole
author's extraction; the file that will not travel (a seller's reviews, a
gig worker's rating). Every map's author, critic, and repair writes were
verified as Fable-served before admission; this fleet ran on the interactive
quota after the pool vaults emptied.

Six territories were briefed, written for a founder in a raise
or a partner at a fund.
investor-tells seriates by where the founder must stand to
see the tell, from the public record before the first email to the next
round after the wire; its closing member, Next-round hand, is readable
only too late for this raise and so becomes the first tell for the next
founder, which closes the route into a loop. The critic sharpened the type:
a tell is a cost the investor did not price the reading into.
dilution-carriers seriates by what the carrier's amount waits on before
it can be computed: nothing, a
clock, the next round's price, a person's leaving, the exit price and the
room at the exit, and nothing again because what drains is control and no
share count shows it. Its standout, Reset with the trigger in the other
hand, is the Series A re-vest where the board that can end the founder's
employment is the board the investor now sits on. The critic checked the
arithmetic an operator would check first and found four errors (a
dual-class vote share, lapsed options returning to the pool, an
at-the-money warrant's option value, a carve-out example at the one price
where it drains nothing).
power-trades seriates by what becomes of the given
power: lent and returned by its own clock, returned lighter, returned for
the other side, consumed in the giving, and finally minted in a hand that
was never a party to the trade. Its standout, Key man's lever, is that
last case: investors take the right to suspend a fund if named partners
leave, and each named partner now holds a lever over its own firm, so a
power trade does not conserve power. The critic moved Silence on the tab
out of the bribe shape the map's own boundary excludes by naming the power
that actually passes, the source's accumulating veto carried by the
reporter's own withheld stories.
power-law-behaviors seriates by what the behavior is a function of: the
fund's size relative to your round (halving the fund removes it), ratios
inside the cap table that size does not touch, and the fund's state under
other people's money,
which persists as the money is halved to nothing. Its standout, Big holder
wants the high price, had its sign wrong in the draft; the critic caught
it, and the repaired rule reads a holder's interest in price as pro-rata
share of the round minus new dollars.
term-sheet-powers seriates by how much must change from the day of
signing before the term bites: nothing but the calendar, then the company's own fortunes, then an outside arrival. Its new member,
New money rewrites the old paper, follows from the last stop: any term
that bites only through an outside arrival can be made a condition of the
arrival, so the new lead demands the ratchet waived and the stack
collapsed. The critic cut a drain that duplicated dilution-carriers and
turned a loop that did not close into the dependency it was, with the
refusal item's causal order fixed.
walkaway-manufactures seriates by where the alternative's
existence is held: a state of the world that needs no believer, a contract
or certificate, another party's patience, the counterparty's belief alone.
Its new member, Pawn-shop option, is the real outside option that
discredits its holder when shown, as the insider bridge that lets a founder
refuse an outside lead. The critic widened the type to admit a leaving that
needs no alternative, fencing
"makes leaving credible" in and "makes staying credible" out.
Openings the critics left: carriers that drain the preferred, which the
conservation law predicts and the founder-facing itinerary never reaches;
costs an investor spends toward the founder before the wire; the mark that
is also the exit in an open-ended vehicle; the closing condition that mints
hold-up power in a true stranger; the price of a waiver, for terms whose
whole value is what their holder is paid to forgive them; the walkaway the
counterparty pays for (severance, acceleration, the reverse termination
fee); and, from the fleet's briefing, how a round goes from cold to
oversubscribed. Every map's author, critic, and
