Version issue - OctoPrint prompts to update endlessly between v 1.78 and 1.80a

Whenever I view my octoprint console, I get a prompt to update Spool manager either to 1.78 or 1.80a3 - whichever one isn't installed at the time. Repo URL is standard (https://plugins.octoprint.org/plugins.json).

Please provide a step-by-step description of your issue and what you tried so far. Please include the version you were initially upgrading from. This issue existed before but was resolved in 1.7.7, so I will need very precise information to understand what happened.
