Deal with scientific notation

I used to have some custom code that prevented R from using scientific notation. In the conversion to bookdown it got lost. Students find it confusing and it doesn't render properly in inline code.

Apparently, there is no way to do this inside the YAML header, so I'll have to decide if this is worth setting in each document, or only some documents where it tends to cause issues.
