Create a space

I would like to have an option to create a space to accommodate the distinction between my work knowledge base and my hobby knowledge base, as it is a bit difficult to create another .db file.

You can use the "Hoist note" functionality for that. Have to folders, work and hobby in the root folder. Then right click the area you want to work on and select Hoist not in the context menu. Now you only see this note and its subnotes. Press the unhoist button to get back to the root note.

We already have this implemented in the form of Workspaces, similar to how @hulmgulm mentioned.

You can press F1 in-app and go to Navigation -> Workspaces for more information.
