Revise visualization of variables on boundaries

The visualization of variables on cells/nuclei currently has a few gaps that need to be filled:

• filtering of cells with filtering widget needs to be supported
• outlines are drawn for each layer separately instead of only once. To reduce the number of layers, it would make sense to show only one outline layer and make sure that it is always moved to top when necessary.
