Unable to progress through tutorial

I am attempting to run from source and I am unable progress past step 2 of the tutorial. I suspect that I am supposed to see the "scene grid" mentioned in the tutorial, but none appear. To progress, I must click one of these scenes that do not appear. Whenever I reach this step in the tutorial the following appears in the terminal (note that I obfuscated my username in the file paths):

The sample_sets directory is not present in my ProjectKestrel folder. To my knowledge, I have not removed or renamed it.

I'm using python 3.11.15 via a venv. I cloned the repo on 07/31/26

Thanks for the report. Yeah, this is a symptom of some questionable logic I introduced a long time ago when trying to get the tutorial to load reliably. This is because the sample_sets are located in a different folder within the repo.

I'll just tell copilot to fix this by extending the candidate roots path to point to wherever I put it in the repo. Sorry about that!

Pull the latest origin/dev - should be fixed. will merge into main this weekend, probably.

Just gave it a try on the dev branch. Seems to be working now. I appreciate your responsiveness and look forward to trying out the project!
