Word Document Data fields not updating when using email sending

Bug Description

When a document template includes a dynamic data field (in this case the current date specifically) it does not update when the document is generated.

This is most likely because the field only updates when you actually open the file in Word. But in this case it is not opened before it is being sent.

Please check if there is any way of making the fields update without opening the file or if it is possible to use the SORMAS template fields to add the option to add the current date.

Reproduction Steps

1. Create a document template with a "Date" field in it.
2. Upload template as email template
3. Use email template to send a document
4. Observe sent document

Expected Behavior

The "Date" field should display the date the document was created and sent.

Incorporate the changes for different workflows like

• QUARANTINE_ORDER_CASE - Document Templates Case
• QUARANTINE_ORDER_CONTACT = Document Templates Contact
• QUARANTINE_ORDER_EVENT_PARTICIPANT = Document Templates Event Participant

In the document, we should mentioned the fields as $general.currentDate.short and $general.currentDate.medium, then its value will be replaced by today's values based on the application locale.

Fixed and deployed to my personal QA server.

Test failed.

While the date is correctly added to the document according to specifications, when trying to open the downloaded document an error message appears that there is "unreadable content" in the file.

This is the error message that comes up (just an example as my error message is in german):

If you click on "Yes", the document still opens and also looks correct, but the error message should not appear in the first place.

Please check again if this also happens for you and where it is coming from.

Moving this back to "In Progress" and assigning it to Karnaiah.

When opening the document with MS Word, an error message may appear. The file can still be opened as normal, it does not effect the content of the document. We are investigating the reason to provide a fix as fast as possible with #13847
