Add `template` documents that work well with our default web application stack

Proposed by @john: Not for the PR above, but as a separate ticket/issue, given we have a default stack, it would be easier to add new useful templates that work with it--like a new .gitignore in the /templates directory that's Python/React/Vite friendly. Maybe an editconfig?
