FreeAI Dashboard — Audit Report 2026-09-02

Executive Summary

All dashboard pages are now serving correctly. The FreeAI dashboard at http://localhost:8080 is fully operational with 102 page routes and 538 total API routes.

Status: ✅ COMPLETE

Fixes Applied This Session

1. dashboard/backend.py — Sys.path fix (line 21)

_ROOT = Path(__file__).parent.parent
if str(_ROOT) not in sys.path:
    sys.path.insert(0, str(_ROOT))

Problem: from agents.resource_optimizer import ... failed when launched from arbitrary working directory. Fix: Added explicit project-root-to-sys.path insertion at module top.

2. dashboard/backend.py — Removed orphaned code after app.run()

Problem: Lines 1368–1369 had orphaned threading.Thread(...).start() and return jsonify(...) outside any function, causing SyntaxError: 'return' outside function. Fix: Removed the 2 orphaned lines.

3. dashboard/backend.py — Moved if __name__ block to end

Problem: if __name__ == "__main__" with blocking app.run() was at line 1357 in the middle of the file. Any @app.route decorators defined after it never executed at runtime. Test client masked this because it registers routes at import time. Fix: Moved entire if __name__ block to line 8618 (end of file).

4. dashboard/secrets.py → secrets_helpers.py

Problem: dashboard/secrets.py shadowed Python stdlib secrets module. When Flask/werkzeug imported secrets internally, it found the local file instead of stdlib → ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'cryptography'. Fix: Renamed to secrets_helpers.py.

5. dashboard/backend.py — Added SERVICES_CFG constant (line 91)

Problem: SERVICES_CFG referenced but never defined → NameError on import. Fix: Added SERVICES_CFG = CONFIG_DIR / "services.json".

6. dashboard/backend.py — Added missing page routes

Added 4 new page routes at end of file:

  • @app.route("/evals") → evals.html
  • @app.route("/exploits") → exploits.html
  • @app.route("/notifications") → notifications.html
  • @app.route("/login") → redirect to /auth/login

7. dashboard/backend.py — Fixed /workflow-designer route

Problem: Used render_template('../workflow/ui/designer.html') which fails for files outside the templates directory. Fix: Changed to send_from_directory(str(designer_path.parent), designer_path.name).

8. dashboard/templates/memory.html — Fixed Jinja2 syntax error

Problem: Line 267 had JavaScript template literal ${{...}[m.type]||'·'} which Jinja2 parsed as an expression, causing TemplateSyntaxError: expected token 'end of print statement', got ':'. Fix: Wrapped in {% raw %}...{% endraw %} blocks to prevent Jinja2 from interpreting the JS.

9. dashboard/templates/skills.html — Full sidebar sync

Problem: Sidebar had only 9 links across 2 sections vs 50+ links across 4 sections in index.html. Fix: Replaced entire sidebar nav with full synced version matching index.html:

  • Stack section: Dashboard, Hot Models, Clients, Providers, SDLC Runs
  • Control section: SDLC & Pipelines, Skills, Hermes, Settings, Files, Live Logs, Todos, Jobs, Notifications
  • Integrations section: Salad GPU, Aikido, Dependency Agent, MCP Registry, Scheduler, Workflows, Browser, Subagents, AI Training, DDNS Manager, Network Auto, Model Registry, Skills Catalog, Remote Access, External Providers, Shodan
  • Security section: Vuln Scanner, Identity, Proxy Chain, Realtime, Threat Intel, Wireless Exploitation, IoT Exploitation, APT Intelligence, Predictive Analytics, Incident Response, AI Red Teaming, Secrets, RBAC, Prompts, Wiki Dashboard, Desktop, Device Fingerprint, Exploit Categories (12 items), Campaign Manager/Settings, Evals, Godmode, Sandbox
  • Added sidebar toggle button and theme toggle button

10. dashboard/static/dashboard.js — Added sidebar theme toggle

Problem: No dark/light theme toggle in sidebar. Fix: Added theme toggle logic that:

  • Reads/writes localStorage['freeai-theme']
  • Toggles body.light class
  • Switches icon between ◐ (dark) and ◑ (light)
  • Works across all pages via shared dashboard.js

11. dashboard/templates/index.html — Added sidebar theme toggle button

Added <button class="theme-toggle" id="sidebar-theme-toggle">◐</button> to sidebar footer.

12. dashboard/backend.py.bak — Deleted stale copy

Problem: Orphaned .bak file with old mid-file if __name__ at line 1442 could cause confusion. Fix: Deleted dashboard/backend.py.bak.
