			     <span class="name">IIT Roorkee</span>
				 <span class="border"></span>
				 <p>The oldest technical institute in Asia established in 1847.
				 It was named after the founder James Thomason as Thomason College
				 of Civil Engineering. After the independence, it was renamed to
				 University of Roorkee (UOR). Ever since its establishment, the quality
				 of education and research outcome of this institute is outstanding.
				 According to Institutes of Technology Act, 1961,  Indian government
				 considered UOR as Institutes of National Importance and gave the IIT status.
				 Now IITR holds 387 in QS 2021 world ranking. so far IITR has produced 10
				 Padma awardees, 15  Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize winners.

				 <span class="border"></span>
				 <p>Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance exam
				 conducted by the top 7 IITs on behalf of MHRD. Through GATE a graduate
				 can get into IIT's/IISc and government Public sector Undertaking companies.
				 GATE exam contains 65 questions out of which 15 are from general aptitude
				 and 50 questions from core subject. Each year only 15% of all appearing aspirants
				 will qualify for the exam. Out of all qualified aspirants, only the top 99% scored
				 aspirants will get an opportunity to get into PSU/IIT's. Which places the GATE exam
				 stands 4th in the toughest exam in India.
