For a Newsletter blog post, we publish the post, update our newsletter google group mailing list (documented in Approach Guide...Newsletter), then Julie emails the newsletter to the list.

Finding Solutions Faster by Hacking on Ideas with Openscapes at ESIP

Coworked with @IleanaF to go from Google Doc finalized post to publishing on openscapes.org/blog. Here are some workflow notes that can be adapted for Approach Guide.

• https://github.com/Openscapes/website-new/wiki - how-to’s from Sam Csik
• Update RStudio and all packages
• In RStudio, clone website-new repo
• Create and save GitHub PAT
  • Instructions in kyber https://github.com/openscapes/kyber#configuration
• Create website-new branch in RStudio, using usethis
  • pr_init(branch = "branchname") - creates new branch and initiates pieces for a PR (but doesn’t start PR till pr_push())
  • Commit
  • pr_push() -
• Cp the template blog post file; edit YAML
  • Edits to template are welcome
• Added Ileana as Maintain permission on website-new repo (error message gave us the hint she could not push directly to repo)
• Tested render of a bit of text, got error, thinking Ileana needs to update Quarto.
  • Stef successfully rendered locally, so it’s a local thing for Ileana
• copy completed formatted Google Doc blog text into RStudio Visual mode
• Edit headings in Source mode - cp from google doc adds bold to headings in addition to heading formatting - subtle, but a problem.
