support for thumbnails in the heic format?

i wonder if its possible to add support for the heic format in the thumbnail preview in salamander?

I implemented preliminary support for viewing .heif and .webp images with pictview plugin, including thumbnails. This is kind of a hack, plugin decodes the image and then injects it to the pictview library, what may take a while with larger image files. But as a temporary solution it should serve you well.

I prepared binaries for Salamander 4.0, as not everybody is able to compile the sources (#61).

Simply, extract the binaries to where your Salamander is installed, e.g. C:\Program Files\Altap Salamander (the .dll files must be at the same level as salamand.exe is). The pictview.spl plugin file will be overwritten. I'd recommend to preserve the file, if plugin will not work, you can revert the installation.

When you start Salamander, it should register pictview with new file extensions. Go to menu Plugins\Plugins Manager, select pictview plugin, and see if thumbnails label contains the new file extensions (if not, press Test button). Check also if the file extensions were registered with viewer. Go to menu Options\Configuration and find Viewers page, if the new file extensions are not there, add *.heic;*.heif;*.webp and associate them with pict viewer.

Finally save the configuration let you don't have to do this everytime you start Salamander. Enjoy 🙂
