Show individual mapwarper tiles dates under Show Background Panel

Maybe this is impossible and maybe not enough use cases but I was wondering if it would be possible to get each sheet date from a mapwarper mosaic to show the date under Show Background Panel. The reason is because some datasets consist of sheets from multiple dates.

The Background panel’s date tiles are built into iD for a couple of specific mosaic layers, as are the dynamic layer-wide start and end dates for those layers. (Our iD fork includes a custom implementation for Esri Wayback.) osmlab#909 tracks making this more data-driven. It would require the layer source to provide an API endpoint.
