Can't search Chinese charcters

Folks from Taiwan Forest institutes reported that the Chinese characters search doesn't work after they upgrade Metacat to 3.4.2.
I did search on MetacatUI with two Chinese characters and it returned all packages, which is not correct.
However, I did a search by an api call directly and it worked:

MetacatUI uses postQuery to query Metacat and the query content shows:
