These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Moonfin for Roku (“Moonfin,” “the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), an enhanced Roku client for Jellyfin-compatible media servers.
By installing, sideloading, accessing, or using Moonfin, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Moonfin is a Roku client designed to connect to Jellyfin-compatible media servers and related optional services. The App may allow you to browse, search, request, and play media from servers that you configure and control or are authorized to access.
Moonfin does not provide, host, sell, stream, or distribute movies, television shows, music, images, metadata, or other media content. Any media, libraries, servers, metadata providers, or request services you connect to the App are separate from Moonfin.
Moonfin for Roku is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or officially associated with the Jellyfin project, Roku, Jellyseerr, Seerr, TMDB, or any media studio, distributor, network, rights holder, actor, or other third party unless expressly stated.
You may use Moonfin only if you are legally able to agree to these Terms and comply with all applicable laws. If you use the App on behalf of another person, household, organization, or server owner, you represent that you have permission to do so.
Moonfin requires you to provide connection information for your own Jellyfin-compatible server or a server you are authorized to use. Optional features may require configuration of the Moonfin server plugin, Jellyseerr, Seerr, or similar services.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your Jellyfin, Roku, Jellyseerr, Seerr, Moonfin plugin, and related accounts.
- Ensuring that all server URLs, credentials, API keys, request permissions, parental controls, libraries, and user profiles are configured appropriately.
- All activity that occurs through your configured accounts, servers, devices, and API keys.
- Revoking, rotating, or removing credentials if a device is lost, sold, shared, compromised, or no longer trusted.
Moonfin may store connection details, preferences, session information, or API keys locally on your Roku device or through server-side sync features when you enable them. You should not use Moonfin on a device you do not trust.
You are solely responsible for the media libraries, streams, metadata, artwork, subtitles, trailers, live TV, and other content that you access through Moonfin.
Moonfin is a client application. We do not verify, monitor, approve, host, or control the legality, accuracy, availability, rating, maturity level, or ownership of content on any server you connect to the App.
Moonfin may include optional integrations with Seerr, TMDB metadata, or similar discovery/request services. These features may allow users to browse trending, popular, recommended, or searchable media and request content from a configured server.
Use of these integrations may be subject to separate terms, privacy policies, API rules, rate limits, and account permissions maintained by those third parties or by your server administrator.
Moonfin may display media information, images, artwork, metadata, titles, descriptions, ratings, genres, recommendations, or search results based on your configured server, user profile, plugins, and third-party metadata sources.
You are responsible for configuring appropriate Jellyfin users, libraries, parental controls, metadata settings, Seerr permissions, filters, and Roku device controls for children or other viewers.
Optional mature-content or NSFW filtering features are provided for convenience only and may not identify or block all inappropriate material.
You agree not to:
- Access servers, accounts, libraries, or request systems without permission.
- Circumvent access controls, user permissions, parental controls, geographic restrictions, digital rights systems, or security features.
- Interfere with, overload, scan, attack, or disrupt any server, API, plugin, device, service, or network.
- Misrepresent Moonfin as being officially affiliated with Jellyfin, Roku, Seerr, TMDB, or any other third party.
- Use Moonfin to distribute malware, spyware, unauthorized tracking, or harmful code.
- Remove copyright, license, attribution, or disclaimer notices from the App where legally required.
Moonfin is distributed as open-source software under the GNU General Public License version 2.0 (“GPL-2.0”), as reflected in the project repository. The GPL-2.0 governs your rights to copy, modify, and distribute the App’s source code and derivative works.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit, restrict, or override any rights you have under the GPL-2.0. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the GPL-2.0 regarding copying, modification, or distribution of the licensed software, the GPL-2.0 controls for those software-license matters.
These Terms govern your use of the App, connected services, user conduct, content responsibility, disclaimers, and related matters not controlled by the GPL-2.0.
Moonfin may change, add, remove, or discontinue features at any time. Updates may affect compatibility with Roku devices, Jellyfin servers, plugins, APIs, Seerr, metadata providers, or other services.
We do not guarantee that Moonfin will always be available, error-free, secure, compatible with every Roku device, compatible with every server version, or capable of playing every media format, stream, subtitle, audio track, video codec, live TV channel, or library item.
Moonfin operates in an ecosystem that may include Roku devices, Roku OS, Jellyfin servers, Moonfin server plugins, Seerr, metadata providers, network services, reverse proxies, media encoders, subtitle providers, and other third-party software or services.
We are not responsible for third-party services, software, hardware, networks, APIs, outages, security practices, content, metadata, account systems, or changes that affect Moonfin.
Your use of third-party services may be governed by their own terms and policies.
Moonfin may process information necessary to connect to and interact with your configured servers and optional integrations, such as server addresses, usernames, authentication tokens, API keys, library data, playback state, media metadata, settings, and request information.
Data handling may depend on your Roku device, Jellyfin server, Moonfin server plugin, Seerr configuration, network setup, and third-party services you use.
You are responsible for reviewing and configuring the privacy and security settings of your servers, plugins, Roku device, and connected services.
Moonfin does not provide legal, copyright, security, parental-control, compliance, or technical-administration advice. You are responsible for determining whether your use of the App and connected services complies with applicable laws, licenses, contracts, and household or organizational requirements.
Moonfin is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, reliability, compatibility, performance, security, and error-free operation.
You use Moonfin at your own risk. You are responsible for your devices, servers, accounts, credentials, media libraries, network configuration, and data.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Moonfin’s developers, contributors, maintainers, distributors, and affiliated project participants will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive, or similar damages, including loss of data, loss of access, loss of content, device issues, server issues, account compromise, playback failures, service interruptions, or legal claims arising from your use of the App.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Moonfin will not exceed the amount you paid directly to us for the App, if any.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Moonfin’s developers, contributors, maintainers, distributors, and affiliated project participants from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from or related to:
- Your use or misuse of Moonfin.
- Your media libraries, servers, accounts, credentials, requests, or connected services.
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any law, regulation, license, contract, or third-party right.
- Any content you access, request, stream, copy, store, or distribute through connected services.
You may stop using Moonfin at any time by uninstalling or deleting the App and removing any related credentials, API keys, server connections, or plugin settings.
We may stop providing, maintaining, or supporting Moonfin or any feature at any time. If you violate these Terms, your permission to use Moonfin may terminate, subject to any rights you retain under the GPL-2.0 for the software itself.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be effective when posted or otherwise made available. Your continued use of Moonfin after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
