Black screen on start

I've tried the bin in the repo and compiling, but each time i start the app, the entire screen goes black but with the mouse pointer still visible. I have to change to a pty to kill the software. I'm using Arch and i3. Does the app require a compositor or compositing WM?

@milkmiruku thank you for your interest to the project and sorry for a late response. I'm not experienced in native GUI programming and I don't know anything about compositors.

I'm also using the latest Arch. I've just installed the latest version of Qt Creator from qt.io, configured the project, built it and it launched just fine with Qt 5.11.0 gcc. I remember I was using some previous version of Qt when I was building it and it was working fine.

I'm using Plasma Desktop (KDE) but I believe it should work fine with other desktop managers as well. I think some GUI drivers are required (since it's a GUI application) but I'm not sure which specifically.

Compositors allow for effects, from transparency and shadows to 3D desktop transitions/cubes, depending on how advanced.

I don't have the time to test other desktops right now, no worries if you don't, I'll try get back to this.
