Test chat and retrieval-augmented generation systems for security failures. RAGFuzz runs adversarial suites, scores results, saves replayable cases, and exports redacted reports.
The normal workflow uses a local OpenAI-compatible model server. No cloud provider account is required. Test only systems you own or have permission to assess.
Requires Python 3.11+, uv, and a running model server.

uv run ragfuzz demoOpen http://127.0.0.1:8765. The FastAPI app checks providers, lists models, runs walkthroughs with live progress, and displays reports. Scenario controls can inject findings for demonstration; distinguish those from measured failures.
Demo state lives in memory and clears on exit. Normal CLI artifacts remain on disk.

Normal local Ollama and LM Studio servers need no key. vLLM needs one only when configured to require it. In LM Studio, load a model and start the server. A vLLM example is vllm serve MODEL_NAME --host 127.0.0.1 --port 8000.

Only declared scoring heuristics run. Unknown names fail validation. Signals include canary leaks, policy violations, partial success, refusal latency, tool errors, poison influence, source trust, rank drift, conflict recovery, grounding, context degradation, and membership evidence. Declare only what the suite actually measures.
Record authorization before running a suite. Public and link-local targets are blocked by default; JR AutoRAG checks and poison runs default to loopback or private hosts.

uv run ragfuzz doctor--allow-public-target deliberately widens that boundary. Use it only for an authorized target. Local HTTP traffic ignores proxy environment variables by default; set RAGFUZZ_HTTP_TRUST_ENV=true only when the network requires proxy-aware checks.

uv run ragfuzz redact-check evidenceReports contain summary metrics, failures, cases, scores, mutations, and traces in HTML, Markdown, and JSON. Export redacts user-controlled headers and API-key-like values. The evidence bundle adds readiness records, redaction proof, and a manifest.
Local audit events record timestamp, username when available, command, target or run ID, report outputs, and poison-cleanup status. Sensitive values are redacted before writing. Review exports before sharing them.
