Hi JdeRobot community,

I'm Aryan Jain, a student at IIT Madras interested in applying for GSoC 2026
Project #3: Power Tower Inspection with Deep Learning.

I've set up the developer environment and submitted my first contribution:

• PR Fix: develop_academy.sh defaults to CPU mode even when NVIDIA GPU is present #3686: Fix develop_academy.sh defaulting to CPU mode even when NVIDIA GPU is present which adds auto-detection mirroring the logic already in run_academy.sh

My background relevant to this project:

• PyTorch/deep learning experience including open-vocabulary object detection on a real 6-DOF robot arm (GRASP project)
• Computer vision and robotics simulation experience
• Python, ROS2 (learning), Gazebo

I've contacted the mentors and am working on my proposal. Looking forward to contributing more to the community!
